10. Indonesia - On Bali, you find English-speaking girls. Unfortunately, they have mostly learned it in previous love relationships with foreign men. But even on Bali, you will be much, much better off if you learn some Indonesian, which fortunately is easy. At places in Indonesia other than Bali, you won't get anywhere without speaking Bahasa Indonesia. So, this country, overall, is not a destination if you only speak English and do not intend to learn another language
9. Vietnam - only people connected to the tourist industry speak some English. If they do, then often quite reasonably. If only they were less eager to apply it for cheating.
8. Laos - actually, the percentage of the local population that speaks some English is higher than in Thailand, and certainly higher than in China, two countries that rank better on this list. It's just that Laos has so little potential for girls. Laos has such a small population, and at the same time, in cpomparison to its population size, such a large tourism industry, that it may well be that no other country in Asia employs such a large percentage of its work force in tourism. It may also be the one country in Asia with the largest percentage of its population having gone into exile during and after the Vietnam War, and having subsequently returned.
7. Thailand - even those Thai girls who are seeking permanent relationships with foreigners, feel that it's the foreign man's responsibility to learn their language, not the other way around. Apart from that, hookers and other low-level tourist industry workers speak the kind of English they picked up on the street.
6. Japan - normal Japanese girls do not have much energy to practice the English they all learn in school. But anyway, your best option for finding a girlfriend is in the English teaching circuit.
5. China - the vast majority speaks no English at all. However, your pick of a girlfriend will anyway be from among those who studied or study English. And they often speak it quite well.
4. Cambodia - there are so many international aide organizations in Cambodia that English often seems the primary language of administration. Furthermore, international organizations, which pay a good salary, need English-speaking staff. And the schools that are established by aide organizations often also teach English (even in remote parts of the country). Thus, this country (or is it a territory under international rule?) is firmly on the path of becoming bilingual.
3. Malaysia - even though the Malay, Chinese, and Tamil ethnic groups use their own languages to talk within their ethnicity, they all need English to communicate with members of other ethnic groups. Practically everybody speaks some English.
2. Philippines - practically everybody knows enough English to communicate in that language, though among the less educated, grammatical skills are lacking badly. Among the educated, English often is the principal language. If you only speak English and travel to Asia to have love relationships, the Philippines is your best option.
1. Singapore - English meanwhile is the primary language. You will have a chance with young women only if you indeed are a good looking, well educated Western men. The country is not an economical destination, though.
